Bayern Munich have ambitious plans for the summer after regaining the Bundesliga title. The Bavarian club is looking to get the best German talent not named Jamal Musiala in the summer. Bayern want to complete the blockbuster deal to bring Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.
The 22-year-old German star has enjoyed a productive Bundesliga campaign with Bayer Leverkusen, contributing with 20 goals and assists on the pitch. His performances have consistently improved under Xabi Alonso. Die Roten do not want to miss out on a top German talent like Wirtz.
According to Bild’s Christian Falk, Bayern have already agreed on personal terms with Wirtz for a transfer at the end of the season. The record Bundesliga champions have also agreed terms for next summer if Bayer Leverkusen refuses to sell the young star at the end of the season.
Falk also reports that Bayern plans to offer €100 million for Wirtz. Considering Wirtz has a contract until 2027, Bayer Leverkusen will ask for a fee much bigger than €100 million to part ways with Wirtz in the summer.
In an ideal scenario, Bayer Leverkusen would have liked Wirtz to join a club outside the Bundesliga. Real Madrid and Manchester City had shown concrete interest in the German forward, but it does look like he has his heart set on a move to Bavaria.
Max Eberl refuses to squash rumours about agreement with Wirtz
Bayern legend and board member Uli Hoeness is also playing a crucial role in bringing Wirtz to the club. Hoeness reportedly held talks with Wirtz’s father before the Champions League game between Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen.
The agreement over personal terms is a significant development for Bayern as it confirms the player’s eagerness to join in the upcoming summer transfer window. Bayern’s director of sport, Max Eberl, refused to comment on this report while talking to the media during the title celebrations at Allianz Arena on Saturday. He didn’t squash the report, which suggests there is certainly significant movement in the club’s pursuit of Wirtz.
Max Eberl on whether it's true that Bayern reached an agreement with Florian Wirtz: "Today is not the day to talk about that. Today is a day to celebrate, with the focus being Thomas Müller. Then we'll see what happens"

It looks like a matter of time before Wirtz will be playing in the Bavarian colours. However, Bayer Leverkusen will make it difficult for Die Roten to complete the deal. They are expected to demand a much bigger fee than €100 million. Earlier this season, reports in Germany were suggesting that Leverkusen’s interest in Paul Wanner may also play a part in Bayern’s deal for Wirtz. The next few weeks will give more clarity on Bayern’s position on Wanner and the progress in negotiations with Leverkusen for Wirtz.
