Bayern Munich were not active in the mid-season transfer window. The club hierarchy focused on internal transfers (contract extensions). However, Bayern already has plans in place for the summer transfer.

Die Roten are keen on adding a new right-back to the squad at the end of the season. They have Konrad Laimer as first choice right-back, but the Austrian’s primary position is in the center of the park. Laimer has excelled under Kompany over the last 18 months, making him one of the best right-backs in Europe.

Bayern had Sacha Boey as the deputy of Laimer, but the French full-back joined Galatasaray on loan until the end of the season. Boey is expected to leave permanently in the summer. Tom Bischof and Raphael Guerreiro can do a job in the right-back role, but they are far from perfect solutions. Joshua Kimmich can also play in this position if needed.

In order to add more depth in the right-back position, Bayern have identified Feyenoord full-back Givairo Read as the top target for the summer transfer window. The Dutch full-back’s representatives have reportedly held talks with Die Roten.

Manchester City have registered interest in the 19-year-old right-back. As per Bild’s Christian Falk (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern are confident of beating Manchester City for the signature of Read. The youngster is currently on the sidelines until March due to injury, but it has not changed Bayern’s plans of signing him in the summer.

Feyenoord will be pleased to see interest from Manchester City in Read, as it will allow them to drum up an auction between two of the biggest clubs in Europe. The Dutch club already has an upper hand in negotiations regarding Read’s transfer since his deal expires in 2029.

Bayern still working on a new deal for Konrad Laimer

Along with signing Read to bolster the right-back options, Bayern are also keen on extending the contract of Laimer. The Austrian currently has 18 months left on his contract. He has been one of the top performers for Bayern under Vincent Kompany.

Laimer is eager to stay in Munich as he enjoys playing under Vincent Kompany. Bayern have held positive talks with the Austrian midfielder at the end of Hinrunde, but work is still needed to conclude the contract extension. Laimer has been on the sidelines over the last few weeks due to injury, but he will return to the matchday squad against Hoffenheim on Sunday.
