Bayern Munich have been actively scouring the transfer market to strengthen the attack for next season. They are set to part ways with Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane after the Club World Cup. The German forwards will be leaving Die Roten on free transfers.

The Bundesliga champions have faced disappointment in pursuit of several forwards like Florian Wirtz, Nico Williams, Bradley Barcola, and Rafael Leao this summer for different reasons. As things stand, Die Roten are currently working on a deal to sign Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart.

Woltemade can play in multiple positions in the attack. He has shown great potential at Stuttgart and looks ready to take the next step in his career. Bayern have agreed personal terms with Woltemade, but negotiations with Stuttgart will open once the U-21 Euros come to an end. Woltemade is set to feature for Germany against England in the final on Saturday.

Bayern remain keen on signing a winger this summer. They are assessing several options across Europe to strengthen their options on the left flank. According to SportBild (via GFFN), the German champions have shown interest in Manchester City winger Jack Grealish. The 29-year-old is expected to leave Manchester City this summer after being left out of the squad for the Club World Cup.

The report from SportBild also confirms interest from Napoli in the English winger. It remains to be seen what Manchester City want for the English winger to part ways this summer. Pep Guardiola’s team paid £100 million for Grealish four years ago.

Signing Grealish will be a big gamble for Bayern

Grealish has struggled for form in the last two years. He was on the fringes of the squad at Manchester City last season. The English winger is on big wages, and Manchester City will look for a substantial fee for a permanent transfer. Moreover, Grealish is not the type of player who scores consistently.

Bayern will be taking a big gamble if they decide to sign Grealish. He will be 30 in September, showing signs of decline. A move to Bayern may give Grealish a chance to reinvigorate his career. However, signing Grealish doesn’t make sense for Bayern from a financial point of view.

Having said that, signing Grealish on a loan will be a much better deal for Die Roten. If he shines in Bavaria, they can look to make a deal permanent. As things stand, it does look like Bayern’s interest is tentative. There will be more clarity on the German club’s plans for a winger once they conclude a deal for Woltemade.
