Bayern Munich have provided a fine platform to Lennart Karl this season to excel in the first team. Vincent Kompany has given the youngster an adequate amount of game time in Hinrunde to show his quality. Karl also deserves credit for making the most of these opportunities by becoming the youngest player to score in three consecutive Champions League games.
Similar to Karl, Kennet Eichhorn is also making an impact for Hertha’s senior team at a very young age. The 16-year-old midfielder has broken into Hertha BSC’s starting XI this season. Eichhorn has made nine starts in 2. Bundesliga this season. He scored his first senior goal for Hertha in the DFB Pokal clash against Kaiserslautern at the start of December.
Eichhorn’s performances have not gone unnoticed across the Bundesliga. According to TZ, Bayern are interested in signing Eichhorn. The Bavarian club is ready to fork out an entire package of close to €25 million for the 16-year-old midfielder.
Hertha BSC will be eager to hold on to Eichhorn if they manage to earn promotion in the Bundesliga. At the halfway stage of the season, they find themselves sixth in the points table, nine points behind league leaders, Schalke.
From Eichhorn’s perspective, the interest from Bayern will be a big boost to his confidence. However, he needs to play regularly at this age. He is getting regular gametime at Hertha BSC, which may not be the case at Die Roten. In the meantime, playing for Bayern’s first team and training with world-class players will also help his development. Considering the high fee Bayern are reportedly ready to pay for Eichhorn, it shows that the Bavarian club rates him very highly.
TZ has reported that Eichhorn has a release clause of 12.5 million in his contract at Hertha BSC. His current deal expires in 2027. Bayern are ready to offer an entire package of €25 million, which includes transfer fee, salary, and bonuses.
Bayern are looking at young midfielders to replace Goretzka
It is no secret that Leon Goretzka will likely leave Bayern in the summer. The Bavarian club has made no effort to open contract talks with the German midfielder. He will become a free agent at the end of the season. There is interest from several clubs in Goretzka for a winter transfer, but the player and Bayern want to continue until summer.
The record Bundesliga champions are looking at several young midfielders to replace Goretzka. They have shown interest in Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi, while Club Brugge’s Nathan De Cat has been heavily linked with a move to Munich. Eichhorn joins the list of young midfielders that are on Bayern’s list to replace Goretzka.
