Bayern Munich are expected to strengthen the midfield department in the next summer transfer window. It does look like they want to sign a young midfielder to add more depth and quality to the squad.

The defending Bundesliga champions have been linked with several young midfielders in the past couple of months. One latest report in France has added one more name to the list of midfield targets for Bayern in the next summer transfer window.

According to Footmercato, Bayern are one of the clubs showing interest in Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi. The 18-year-old midfielder recently signed a new deal with Lille, but the French club will be open to listening to offers over €60 million for the teenager in the summer.

Bayern will face significant competition for the signature of Bouaddi. Footmercato has confirmed interest from Juventus, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester United in the young midfielder.

Bouaddi is a technically gifted midfielder, specifically when it comes to carrying the ball from deeper positions. He has a good eye for making the killer pass. The youngster has played frequently for Lille this season, racking up more than 1000 minutes before the midway point of the campaign.

Goretzka looks to be on his way out from Bayern

The record Bundesliga champions have been heavily linked with Club Brugge’s Nathan De Cat over the last few weeks. The interest in Ayyoub Bouaddi also suggests that Die Roten wants to sign a high-potential young midfielder.

Die Roten’s eagerness to sign a young midfielder does suggest that Leon Goretzka will most likely leave on a free transfer in the summer. The German international is not the first-choice midfield option for Vincent Kompany since Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlovic have been more consistent than him this season. Tom Bischof has also shown promising signs when played in central midfield.

Bayern have no plans to part ways with Goretzka in January. The Bavarian club will miss out on a fee for him in the summer, but getting off his wages will have a significant impact on their wage bill.

Leon Goretzka remains keen on extending his stay in Munich, but it does look like Bayern are planning for life after him. Die Roten will do a good job of replacing Goretzka with De Cat or Bouaddi as they are high-potential midfielders, who could become a key part of the squad for several years.
