Bayern Munich kickstart their pre-season training this week ahead of the 2026/27 season, an all-important campaign in which the board, fans and players hope to see major silverware coming home to the Allianz Arena.
A few first-team players have rejoined Vincent Kompany and the coaching staff at Sabener Strasse for performance tests and training sessions. These are players who did not participate in the World Cup 2026, including Sven Ulreich, Tom Bischof and returning loanees Bryan Zaragoza, Joao Palhinha, Sacha Boey and Arijon Ibrahimovic.
The injured Serge Gnabry and Lennart Karl, who missed the tournament in North America with Germany, have also been present at the training centre for their individual rehabs. Young stars Cassiano Kiala and David Santos Daiber are also working towards their comeback following injuries last season. These four players are not fit for team training. At the moment, Bayern Munich's first team will practice with the second and the U19 team.
The first wave of core members to return will be at the training camp in Tegernsee on July 27.
Players who participated in the World Cup but were eliminated in the Group Stage or Round of 32, such as Hiroki Ito, Kim Min-jae and almost all German internationals, are expected to be present.

Three more players will reunite with the squad ahead of the Asia tour on August 1, including Luis Diaz, Konrad Laimer and Josip Stanisic.
Injured players set to get longer break
Jamal Musiala, who recently underwent surgery to fix his ankle issue for good, will have a lengthier break. Players who suffered injuries at the tail end of last season and during the World Cup, like Alphonso Davies and Ismael Saibari, will also be given a recovery period past the Asia Tour.
Unfortunately for the fans in South Korea and Hong Kong, they will not be able to see Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Dayot Upamecano in real life as they will get a much-needed break after a hectic season and World Cup.
The trio will return after the tour ends on August 8. Vincent Kompany will have a full squad at his disposal to prepare for the Telekom Cup against RB Leipzig on August 15 and the German Super Cup against Borussia Dortmund on August 22.
Bayern Munich expects to have a full, healthy squad coming into next season with the rehab process of Gnabry, Karl, Musiala and Saibari coming along nicely.
The board is also looking to bring in additional squad depth in the transfer window. They will need to sell out-of-favour players first to create the funding for more arrivals.
