Bayern Munich strengthened their attack in the summer by signing Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven. The Moroccan has made a good start to life at Bayern, grabbing his first goal and assist in the first month of the season.
Die Roten also have another option in the attack in the form of Nathaniel Brown. The German full-back can play in the attack if needed. He played in the number ten position against Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Cup earlier this season.
Despite having several options in the attack, Bayern have been linked with a move for FC Barcelona forward Dani Olmo. According to Sky Sports (via ESPN), Bayern could pursue a move for Olmo when the transfer window opens in January.
However, Bild has quickly poured cold water on this report. The German media publication does insist that Bayern’s director of sport, Max Eberl, is a big fan of Olmo, but any move in January is highly unlikely.
Bayern have been previously linked with Olmo
This is not the first time Bayern have been linked with Olmo. The Spaniard had a very impressive spell at RB Leipzig, which had attracted interest from several top clubs in Europe. He ended up joining Barcelona. Bayern were linked with Olmo at the same time, but a move never materialised.
Olmo has been a key player for FC Barcelona over the last few seasons. He can play as an inside forward, but his best position is behind the striker or as a number eight. The 28-year-old also played a key role in Spain’s World Cup win in the summer.
There is no doubt a player of Olmo’s caliber will be a great addition to the first-team squad at Bayern. However, the Bavarian club has several quality options in the number ten position. Saibari, Jamal Musiala, Lennart Karl, Serge Gnabry, and even Nathaniel Brown can play behind Harry Kane.
Unless there is a significant departure at the end of the season, a move for Olmo doesn’t make sense for Bayern. Any attacking signing is likely to be a winger who can be the backup option for Luis Diaz on the left side of the attack.
Bayern don’t have any urgent need to dip into the transfer market in January since they are well covered in all positions. Unless there is an injury crisis, Die Roten are not expected to sign any player in the winter transfer window.
