Bayern Munich have identified Liverpool forward Luis Diaz as their top target to strengthen the wide areas for next season after the departures of Leroy Sane and Mathys Tel. The Bundesliga champions have already held positive talks with the Colombian winger.
The personal terms are not a challenge for Bayern. Negotiations with Liverpool will be difficult as the Premier League champions have no plans to part ways with Diaz this summer. They have rejected approaches from FC Barcelona and Bayern this summer.
The Bavarian club's first bid, worth €67.5 million, was rejected for Diaz. As per The Athletic, Liverpool value Diaz at over €100 million. It will take an astronomical offer for the Merseyside club to change their decision regarding the Colombian forward. Al-Nassr have also been linked with Diaz this summer, but Liverpool are yet to receive any bids from the Saudi Arabian club.
Bayern are not giving up on Diaz despite Liverpool’s firm stance
Despite having a substantial bid rejected for Diaz, Bayern are not giving up on this deal. According to Sky Sports in Germany and Bild, Die Roten are planning further talks with Liverpool to find a breakthrough in negotiations. Bayern are expected to make an improved offer for the Colombian winger in the coming days.
The reports from Germany also confirm that Diaz has given the green light to a move to Bavaria this summer. Diaz held talks with Vincent Kompany to understand plans for him in Munich. The 28-year-old winger may have to put in a transfer request to push for a move away from Liverpool.

After Liverpool's initial 'not-for-sale' stance, there are now indications that things are really moving forward and that concrete negotiations can begin soon. FC Barcelona also remain interested in signing Luis Diaz. However, the Spanish club will struggle to make a bigger bid than the one Bayern had rejected by Liverpool.
After multiple failures in the transfer market this summer, Bayern are determined to sign Diaz. The former Porto forward did well for Liverpool last season. However, Liverpool’s valuation is way over the top for a 28-year-old forward who has two years left on his contract. Die Roten could have signed a younger winger who would have been much more aligned with their budget.
Nevertheless, Diaz will certainly improve Bayern’s options in the attack next season. He will provide the spark on the left flank and help Die Roten to compete for big honours in the short term. In an ideal scenario, Bayern find a breakthrough in talks with Liverpool before the squad returns to Säbener Strasse for pre-season training.
