Luis Diaz has been fantastic since joining Bayern Munich from Liverpool. However, the Bavarians could do with another option on the left wing, and that could be Anthony Gordon.
talkSPORT has reported that "Bayern Munich are interested in signing Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon."
After helping Liverpool win the Premier League title last season, Diaz has managed 23 goals with 18 assists in 41 games in all competitions this campaign. His Bayern side is set to secure the Bundesliga title and is in a fantastic position to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Vincent Kompany's side currently leads Real Madrid 2-1 in their quarter-final tie, and play their second leg at home tonight. Bayern could do the treble this season, as they face Bayer Leverkusen in the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal.
The saying goes that if you stand still, then you go backwards. This is evident in soccer, as even title-winning sides need strengthening if they are to continue to win silverware.
Bayern does not really have a backup option on the left wing should Diaz be suspended or injured. When he has missed games this season, Serge Gnabry, who is naturally a second striker, has had to fill in on the left side.
Would Anthony Gordon be a good fit for Bayern Munich?
Gordon is an intriguing option for Bayern, and it would be great from an England perspective to see him link up with his Three Lions teammate Harry Kane in Germany.
The Newcastle United player would likely have to play second fiddle to Diaz initially. This season, Gordon has found the back of the net 17 times with five assists in 46 games in all competitions. However, he is in a more competitive division and at a club that is currently 14th in the Premier League.
Gordon has so far just won the EFL Cup with Newcastle. He will be desperate to win more trophies, and they would inevitably come if he were to join Bayern. There is also uncertainty at Newcastle, as Eddie Howe's future is in doubt after an unimpressive league campaign.
The Magpies are set to miss out on European soccer, which could lead to an overhaul of their roster. Since the Public Investment Fund took over Newcastle, there were hopes that they could soon become one of the best teams in the world.
Due to the Premier League's profitability and sustainability regulations, they have not been able to spend their astronomical wealth. As they have had limited success so far, this could lead many of their top players, including Gordon, to seek pastures new.
