Last week has been eventful for Bayern Munich on the transfer front. Even though they have not found a breakthrough, Die Roten are working on multiple deals. Adding a couple of forwards to the squad is the top priority for Bayern.
After Nico Williams decided to stay at Athletic Bilbao, Bayern have turned their attention to other options. They have shown concrete interest in Liverpool forward Luis Diaz. Bayern had an approach rejected by Liverpool as they don’t want to part ways with the Colombian wide player.
Despite Liverpool rejecting the initial approach, Bayern have gone ahead and tabled a bid for Diaz. According to Christian Falk, Bayern have made a bid worth €52 million for the Colombian winger. The 28-year-old is open to joining Bayern Munich this summer.
It has been consistently reported in England that Liverpool are determined to keep Diaz in the squad for next season. They may change their mind if a crazy offer arrives for the former Porto forward. Bayern’s first bid is unlikely to change Liverpool’s stance. It will take a much bigger fee to get Diaz this summer.
Bayern working on deals for two forwards
From the developments this week, it is certain that Bayern are looking to add two new forwards to the squad. They have parted ways with Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane this summer, while Mathys Tel completed a permanent transfer to Tottenham Hotspur. The severe injury to Jamal Musiala has forced Bayern to look for two forwards in the market.
VfB Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade is one of the prime targets for Bayern to strengthen the attack. The Bundesliga champions had first bid rejected for the German forward. They are expected to return with an improved offer with personal terms already in place with Woltemade.
The other signing in the attack will be a winger for Bayern. They have tasted defeat in the pursuits of Bradley Barcola and Nico Williams. There has been interest in several Premier League wingers, but Luis Diaz has emerged as the front-runner in this list.
Bayern will face competition from FC Barcelona for Diaz. The Spanish club also had an approach rebuffed by Liverpool earlier this summer. Al-Nassr have also been heavily linked with Diaz. Time will tell if Liverpool soften their stance and engage in negotiations with Die Roten for the Colombian forward.
