Bayern Munich have endured a frantic summer transfer window as they have signed only two free agents until now. They have struggled to get deals over the line for attacking players with no agreement in sight for any of their targets. Bayern are working on deals for multiple players after missing out on their top target- Florian Wirtz.

The Bundesliga champions have revived interest in a player who was on their list last summer. According to Sky Sports in Germany, Bayern held talks with RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons on Wednesday. The Dutch forward is expected to leave RB Leipzig this summer.

Simons has been subject to significant interest from Chelsea. The London-based club has held positive talks over personal terms with the Dutch star and opened talks with RB Leipzig regarding a transfer fee this week.

The former PSG attacking midfielder has reportedly been one of Bayern's key targets last summer. Max Eberl knows Simons from his time at RB Leipzig, so it is not surprising to see Die Roten pursuing a move for the Dutchman.

RB Leipzig will reportedly look to get a fee closer to €70 million for Simons. With Jamal Musiala ruled out for several seasons, a move to Bayern would make sense for the 22-year-old attacking player. Simons could also play together with Musiala since both players can play in multiple positions behind Harry Kane.

Bayern will have to move quickly for Simons if they want to sign him this summer. Chelsea are taking concrete steps to sign the player, and negotiations with RB Leipzig could accelerate in the coming days.

Liverpool bracing for a new bid from Bayern for Luis Diaz

Even though Bayern have held talks with Simons on Wednesday, the Bavarian club’s priority remains signing Luis Diaz from Liverpool. The Bundesliga champions had one bid rejected for the Colombian forward, but talks continue between all parties to make this move happen.

A move for Simons could materialise if Bayern fail to negotiate a fee with VfB Stuttgart for Nick Woltemade. Die Roten had two bids rejected for the German striker. They have currently halted their pursuit of Woltemade.

The next few days are very crucial for Bayern in their desire to strengthen the attack for next season. Vincent Kompany would like to have new players ready for the pre-season tour since it will ease them into the squad and style of play.
