Misses

Mathys Tel

After experiencing a breakout 2023/24 season with 14 goals across all competitions, a lot more was expected of Mathys Tel this season. For various reasons, despite having a decent pre-season, the 19-year-old French forward just hasn’t been able to find his footing under his new coach. That is not to say that Vincent Kompany has held him back. The player himself has admitted to not being in the best of form.

Initially considered the backup option behind Harry Kane in the number nine role, Tel has slipped down the pecking order with veteran Thomas Muller being preferred to him in the absence of Kane. Tel has also failed to impress on the left flank so far this season on the few occasions that he was given the chance. With the Bayern chiefs reportedly on the lookout for a genuine back-up striker these are worrying times for Tel. With that being the case, Bayern and the player have an important decision to make during the current winter transfer window or next summer in terms of a potential loan deal for Tel.

Leroy Sané

Since joining Bayern Munich back in the summer of 2020, Leroy Sané’s performances for the most part have been hit or miss. Last season he enjoyed an impressive Hindrunde and struck up a brilliant partnership with Harry Kane. However, for most of the second half of 2023/24, Sané was plagued by poor form and injury.

Despite scoring the odd spectacular goal and providing an assist here and there, it has been another inconsistent season for the 28-year-old German winger. Since Sane reportedly wants to extend his contract with Die Roten beyond June 2025, his performances to date so far this season have been quite shocking. Sané would likely have to show a marked improvement over the second half of the season if he is to get a contract renewal, despite reportedly being willing to take a pay cut.
