The last few days have given more clarity about the transfer targets for Bayern Munich in the final six weeks of the summer transfer window. The Bundesliga champions have identified Liverpool forward Luis Diaz as their priority target to strengthen the attack.
Bayern already had a bid rejected by Liverpool for the Colombian winger, but talks continue between all parties to reach an agreement for the transfer. Die Roten have received a significant boost in the pursuit of Diaz, as their primary rival for this transfer has ruled out a move for him.
While talking to Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta confirmed the club’s interest in Diaz. However, he has ruled out a move for the Colombian winger. Barcelona have gone ahead and completed a loan deal for Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford. The English winger joined the Spanish champions on Wednesday.
Laporta admitted that Diaz was very keen on joining Barcelona, but a deal couldn’t be agreed with Liverpool. Barcelona had one approach rejected by the Merseyside club early in the transfer window. The Catalan club is not in the best position when it comes to finances, which meant they would have struggled to outbid Bayern for the Colombian forward.
Bayern preparing second bid for Diaz
According to Footmercato, Bayern are planning to make a second bid for Diaz. The second bid will be worth €70 million plus bonuses. Meanwhile, Transfer journalist Ben Jacobs has reported that Bayern’s limit for Diaz is €80 million.
Bayern's new bid for Luis Diaz expected imminently. Understand it will be circa €75m. Bayern won't go higher than €80m.🇨🇴 https://t.co/ajfo75t84e

Personal terms will not be a problem for Bayern as the player looks keen on leaving Liverpool this summer. The Bavarian club will hope that a second bid will do the trick to seal the deal for the Colombian winger.
It is a significant outlay for a 28-year-old forward. With two years left on his contract, Liverpool will not get a much better offer next summer. Moreover, the Merseyside club may need to sell to raise funds for continuing their spending spree. Liverpool have shown concrete interest in Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak. They will have to break the British record for a transfer second time this summer if they have to sign Isak. Considering all these factors, it looks like a matter of time before Diaz gets a move to Bayern.
After clinching a deal for Diaz, Bayern will focus on getting one more forward. The serious injury to Jamal Musiala meant Die Roten needed two forwards this summer.
