It was a busy end to the summer transfer window for Bayern Munich. They managed to resurrect a deal to bring Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea on a season-long loan with a conditional obligation to buy next summer. Jackson will make his debut for Bayern after the international break.

The Bavarian club was looking at loan moves in the final weeks of the transfer window once they failed to reach an agreement with VfB Stuttgart for Nick Woltemade. Die Roten tried to negotiate a deal for Christopher Nkunku, but couldn’t reach an agreement with Chelsea. They eventually turned their attention to Nkunku’s teammate- Nicolas Jackson.

In the buildup to last weekend’s game against Augsburg, Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund insisted that the club is looking to bring more than one forward before deadline day. It does look like they indeed tried to sign a forward in addition to Jackson.

According to The Athletic and Fabrizio Romano (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern explored a move for Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman. As per Romano, Die Roten had a loan bid rejected for the Nigerian forward. The Bavarian club wouldn’t have faced issues with personal terms since Lookman has been looking to leave Atalanta all summer.

Atalanta were not keen on loaning Lookman, which eventually led to this transfer stalling on deadline day. Lookman has been one of the best wide players in Serie A over the last couple of seasons. He would have definitely added more quality and depth to Bayern’s attack.

Apart from Lookman, Bayern reportedly made a loan move for FC Midtjylland forward Franculino Djú. The defending champions wanted to sign Djú on a loan deal, but the Danish club would have only entertained a permanent move for suitable offers.

Bayern agree late loan exit for Jonah Kusi-Asare

After signing Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea, Bayern decided to sanction the loan exit for Jonah Kusi-Asare. The young striker has been part of the first team during the pre-season. He was expected to be part of the first team if they had failed to sign another forward.

Jonah Kusi-Asare has joined Fulham on a season-long loan with an option to buy. As per Sky Sports, the defending Bundesliga champions will get a loan fee of €4 million for the youngster. Bayern have also managed to negotiate a buy-back clause in case Fulham makes the deal permanent.

It is a strange move for the youngster since game time may be hard to come by at Fulham. Bayern will hope that he gets adequate playing time and takes the next step in his development.
