Bayern Munich are still keen to sign Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen but are set to face competition from Real Madrid in the race for his signature.

It is no secret that Bayern Munich wanted to sign Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer transfer window, but an agreement could not be reached between the two clubs. The 28 year old remains determined to leave the reigning Bundesliga champions, and is expected to depart on a free transfer when his current contract with the club expires at the end of the season.

Bayern Munich could miss out on key target to Real Madrid

According to Sky Sport, Bayern Munich are still very interested in signing Tah and will look to bring him in as a free agent next summer. But they are set to face competition from Real Madrid, who may well look to bolster their defensive ranks in the January transfer window.

Tah is said to be on Real Madrid's list of targets, according to reports in both Germany and Spain. The Spanish giants suffered a big blow recently as Eder Militao tore his ACL and will be sidelined for the rest of the season. Former Bayern defender David Alaba is also dealing with an injury, leaving Real Madrid short of options in the center-back department.

It will be interesting to see which team wins the race to sign Jonathan Tah, who has also been linked with a move to the English Premier League in recent months. The defender played a crucial role as Bayer Leverkusen won the Bundesliga title last season, and is also a key player for the Germany national team.

Tah will have no shortage of options, especially if he is available on a free transfer. If Bayern want to win the race for his signature, they may have to move quickly.
