Bayern Munich are looking to pull off one of the biggest deals in Bundesliga history later this summer as they have started working on the signing of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. The Bavarian club has reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with Wirtz.

As per multiple reports in Germany, Bayern have two agreements with Wirtz, one for 2025 and one for 2026, if they fail to sign him this summer. Bayer Leverkusen are looking to get close to €150 million for the 22-year-old German star.

However, signing Wirtz will not be a straightforward deal for Bayern as they face significant competition from Manchester City. According to Bild, Wirtz and his family were spotted travelling to Manchester to hold talks with the former Premier League champions.

Manchester City and Pep Guardiola have identified Wirtz as the top target for replacing Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian star is leaving the Premier League side at the end of the season on a free transfer. Manchester City will likely pay the transfer fee wanted by Leverkusen, but they have to convince Wirtz to move to the Premier League.

Bayern remain hopeful of signing Wirtz

Sky Sports in England has reported that Manchester City have already agreed a framework for a potential deal with Bayer Leverkusen. The former Bundesliga champions would prefer selling Wirtz to Manchester City rather than Bayern.

However, Bild is reporting that Bayern remain hopeful about convincing Wirtz about a move to Bavaria. The likes of Uli Hoeness and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge are driving Bayern’s pursuit of Wirtz.

Considering the significant interest shown by Manchester City, Bayern will not be able to sign Wirtz for €100 million. They will have to fork out €150 million to convince Bayer Leverkusen to complete a deal. Bayer Leverkusen are also trying to extend Wirtz’s contract until 2028. The next few weeks will give a clear picture regarding Wirtz’s future. The German star will ideally avoid a transfer saga and get his future sorted early in the summer.

Parallelly, Bayern are working on a deal to sign another Bayer Leverkusen star. The Bundesliga champions are in advanced talks with Pini Zahavi to sign Jonathan Tah on a free transfer. The German international looked destined to join FC Barcelona, but Bayern have made a late move. If things go well in the coming days, Jonathan Tah could become Die Roten’s first signing of the summer.
