Bayern Munich players are expected to return for pre-season training at the end of July. The Bavarian club had a mixed last season, enjoying success by winning the Bundesliga title, but suffered bitter exits in the cup competitions. Vincent Kompany will look to improve the squad during the summer by drilling players in training.

Meanwhile, the club chiefs will look to strengthen the squad. They have struggled this summer after signing Jonathan Tah in May. However, efforts are being made to add more quality to Bayern’s attack for next season.

The Bundesliga champions also have a decision to make regarding the future of Paul Wanner. The young German attacking midfielder will return to Sabner Strasse after a mixed loan spell at Heidenheim. Bayern are expected to involve him in the squad for the pre-season tour, but his future remains up in the air.

According to Kicker, Hamburger SV have concrete interest in signing Wanner on a season-long loan. The newly promoted Bundesliga side has already signed Daniel Peretz from Die Roten on a loan deal. They will be first in the queue to sign Wanner if Bayern decide to loan him in the Bundesliga.

Meanwhile, ED in the Netherlands is reporting that PSV Eindhoven are interested in signing Wanner. PSV showed interest in Wanner last summer before he moved to Heidenheim. The Dutch media outlet reports that an offer of a loan with an option to buy will be proposed by PSV for Wanner.

Wanner could leave Bayern permanently this summer

There have been murmurs in German media that Wanner could look for a permanent transfer this summer. Bayern rate Wanner highly and believe that he can be part of their long-term plans for the first team. However, the Bundesliga champions reportedly want to send him out on loan to get game time in the European competitions next season.

PSV Eindhoven will be a good opportunity for Wanner to play outside Germany and in the Champions League. He still has two years left on his contract at Bayern. A decision on his long-term future can certainly be taken next summer.

If Wanner seeks a permanent transfer this summer, Bayern need to insert a buy-back clause. The youngster has shown signs of promise across two loan spells, which led to a call-up to the national team by Julian Nagelsmann. The Bavarian faithful will hope to see Wanner flourish at the Allianz Arena in the long run.
