Along with results and good football, Kompany has managed to get the best out of players who were struggling before he arrived in Munich. Serge Gnabry falls into this category of players at Bayern. The German winger had struggled for form over the last couple of months.
Coming into this season, Gnabry was fighting for his future in Munich as he had entered the final 12 months of his contract. The German winger is close to getting a contract extension four months into the new campaign after getting back to his best under the guidance of Kompany.
According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports in Germany. Bayern are expected to offer a two-year extension to Gnabry. The Bavarian club is pleased with Gnabry's performances this campaign. The experienced German forward will need to accept a pay cut to sign a new contract.
Gnabry relaxed after positive talks with Bayern
While talking to the media on Monday (via iMiaSanMia), Gnabry admitted that he has held positive talks with Bayern and remains relaxed regarding his future.
The experienced German forward can talk to interested clubs in January regarding a free transfer if Bayern don’t extend his contract by the end of December. However, Gnabry’s first preference is staying in Munich, so he will not seek talks with interested clubs during the winter transfer window. There was interest from Premier League in Gnabry over the last two summer transfer windows.

Gnabry has scored four goals and chipped in with five assists across all competitions. He has done a good job of filling the number ten role behind Harry Kane. Die Roten needed someone to step up after Jamal Musiala suffered a serious injury during the Club World Cup in the summer. Gnabry has managed to deliver consistent performances in this role.
