Michael Olise was not on the scoresheet for Bayern Munich on Saturday during the 2-2 draw against Augsburg. However, the French winger was still one of Die Roten’s better players in the game.
The 24-year-old created five chances, most for a player in the game. He also had three shots on target. Olise was also creating problems for the hosts with his dribbling as he completed four dribbles in the game. The Frenchman was unfortunate not to score a goal or at least get an assist in the game.
With every passing season, Olise has gotten better at Bayern. He has established himself as one of the best wingers in the world. There have been shouts for him to win the Ballon d’Or this year due to his world-class performances for Bayern and France.
Bayern had to fend off interest from Real Madrid in the summer. The Spanish club reportedly wanted to make Olise their marquee signing under Jose Mourinho. However, Bayern had no plans to sanction a transfer and Real Madrid decided to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig.
Olise will be subject to interest from Bayern’s European rivals next summer if he continues to excel on the pitch. However, Die Roten are not concerned about his future. According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern are confident that Olise will not look for a transfer away from Bavaria in the near future.
Olise deserves a bumper deal at Bayern
Bayern have to be proactive when it comes to contract talks with Olise. He has three years left on his contract, but clubs may encourage him to run down his contract at Die Roten.
Even though Olise signed for Bayern two years ago, he thoroughly deserves a new contract. His numbers have been outstanding, averaging a goal or an assist every game. The French forward rarely has a poor game. His work out of possession is also admirable, as productive attackers often struggle to defend. However, Olise does a great job helping the full-back playing on his side.
In an ideal scenario, Bayern should give Olise a pay rise and offer him a contract at least until 2032. This will ensure that Olise feels valued at Die Roten. Moreover, Bayern will have Olise at the club for the majority of his peak.
Bayern chiefs have successfully negotiated several crucial contract extensions in the last 18 months. However, the new deal for Olise will be the toughest. They will send a strong statement to their European rivals if they manage to extend the contract of the French forward.
