Bayern Munich settled their goalkeeping department on Tuesday by handing a new deal to Sven Ulreich. The experienced German goalkeeper signed a one-year contract extension, which will mean he will stay at Bayern until 2026.

Ulreich will play the role of third-choice goalkeeper in the squad. Manuel Neuer is the number one for Die Roten next season, while Jonas Urbig will be his deputy. The young goalkeeper delivered impressive performances during the second half of the season when Neuer was nursing an injury.

There was speculation around the future of Ulriech. The German goalkeeper missed a few games at the end of the Ruckrunde due to personal reasons. There were reports in Germany suggesting he could hang up his boots this summer. Bayern were linked with a few goalkeepers to replace Ulreich. However, Die Roten will be pleased to see Ulreich stay in Bavaria.

Ulreich has a good relationship with Manuel Neuer. He is also a popular member in the dressing room. The 36-year-old goalkeeper has a big role to play for Die Roten off the pitch. His experience will always come in handy, and he is a very reliable goalkeeper.

Bayern had one significant departure in the goalkeeping department this summer. Daniel Peretz left Die Roten to join Hamburger SV on a season-long deal. The Israeli goalkeeper needs consistent playing time next season, so it made sense to join Hamburg. He will get the chance to play in the Bundesliga every weekend.

After the contract extension of Ulreich, Bayern don’t have to do anything in the transfer market for this position.

Luis Diaz undergoes a medical in Munich

Meanwhile, Bayern are close to completing a significant piece of transfer business. Luis Diaz arrived in Munich on Tuesday to complete a big move from Liverpool. The Colombian forward completed his medical. He will be presented to the media on Thursday. Bayern are paying a total package of €75 million for the Colombian forward.

Diaz will strengthen the attacking options for Vincent Kompany. The Bavarian club parted ways with Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane at the end of the season. Diaz is likely to be the first-choice option on the left flank for Die Roten next season.

After completing a deal for Diaz, Bayern will focus on signing another forward. The necessity of another forward is due to Jamal Musiala’s serious injury. The German star is unlikely to play again in 2025 after suffering an injury during the Club World Cup quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain. The Bundesliga champions want to make Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart after getting the deal for Diaz over the line.
