Bayern Munich have been busy in the early stages of the summer transfer window. Despite the World Cup taking place in the USA, Bayern have been pursuing multiple deals. They are very close to clinching two significant transfers, with moves for Ismael Saibari and Nathaniel Brown edging closer.
Along with signing new players, Bayern chiefs also have work to do regarding contract renewals of a couple of senior players during the summer. It does look like they have found a breakthrough in talks with one of these players.
According to Sky Sports in Germany, TZ, and Kicker, Bayern are in advanced talks with Konrad Laimer regarding a new contract. The two parties have moved closer in salary negotiations.

There was an impasse between Laimer and Bayern regarding wages during the season. Uli Hoeness also made unnecessary comments, suggesting Laimer is not a superstar who deserves crazy wages. It does look like Hoeness’ comments have not affected the Austrian’s relationship with the club.
As per TZ, Laimer’s wages will increase to €12 million gross per year after signing the contract extension. The former RB Leipzig midfielder is currently earning €9 million per year.
With Laimer occupied at the World Cup, the formalities of a new contract are likely to take place once Austria’s tournament comes to an end.
Laimer’s new deal is a big boost for Vincent Kompany
Since the arrival of Vincent Kompany from Burnley in 2024, Laimer has been one of the consistent performers for Bayern. The Austrian has seamlessly adapted to the full-back position. He has worked hard on improving his output in the final third.
Apart from contributing at both ends of the pitch, Laimer also plays a big role when it comes to Bayern’s relentlessness out of possession. His versatility also gives a lot of tactical flexibility to Kompany.
With the rest of his peak committed to Bayern, Laimer is set to play a crucial role in the club’s success over the next few seasons. Kompany will be delighted with the news of a breakthrough in contract talks with Laimer, since he is a big asset in and out of possession for the first team.
After completing the contract talks with Laimer, Bayern’s next big target will be to extend the contract of Harry Kane. The English forward has been sensational since arriving from Tottenham Hotspur three years ago. Kane has one year left on his contract. The 32-year-old is happy with life in Munich, so it does look like contract negotiations should be straightforward.
