Bayern Munich players have improved under Vincent Kompany over the last two seasons. The Belgian coach has given the ideal platforms to superstars in the squad to shine on the pitch. Kompany has also managed to get the best out of the fringe players at Bayern.
Courtesy of Kompany’s astute coaching and man management, Bayern have won two back-to-back Bundesliga titles by playing an exciting brand of football. Die Roten have also looked impressive in Europe, but they didn’t get the rub of the green to go all the way in the Champions League.
Since Bayern players are doing well, there is bound to be interest from other clubs. Kim Min-jae is one of the players in the current squad who has attracted significant interest over the last six months.
The South Korean center-back is a third-choice option in the heart of the defense at Bayern behind Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah. However, he has delivered solid performances whenever Kompany has called him up in the starting XI. Kim Min-jae rejected offers from different clubs in January, and it does look like he has done the same this summer.
According to TZ, Aston Villa have tried intensively this summer to sign Kim Min-jae from Bayern. They had approached the South Korean defender’s representatives at the start of the summer, but he was focusing on the World Cup. Villa recently made another attempt when Bayern faced them in Hong Kong for a pre-season friendly.
The former Napoli center-back is not entertaining a move away from Bayern. TZ has also reported that he has already rejected a move to Nottingham Forest this summer. He is content with life in Munich. The 29-year-old central defender is eager to fight for game time at Bayern.
Bayern have no plans to sell Kim Min-jae this summer
The defending Bundesliga champions were open to listening to offers for Kim Min-jae at the start of the summer transfer window. However, Bayern changed their stance midway through the window and decided to keep him for next season.
Die Roten will not entertain offers from Aston Villa or any other club for the South Korean defender in the final weeks of the transfer window. They remain in talks with Villa for Joao Palhinha. The Portuguese midfielder has been told to leave Bayern this summer. However, Kim Min-jae will stay and compete with Tah and Upamecano for game time next season.
