Dayot Upamecano

After enduring two inconsistent seasons for Bayern, dominated by costly mistakes, Dayot Upamecano was a prime candidate for sale at the end of the 2023/24 season. However, Bayern chiefs and Vincent Kompany, much to the dissatisfaction of some sections of the fanbase, decided to part ways with Matthijs de Ligt instead of the French defender during the summer of 2024.

As things turned out, during the just concluded season, under his new coach-Vincent Kompany, the 26-year-old defender experienced his best form to date for the Bavarian giants, so much so that a contract extension beyond 2026 seems imminent. At the time of this writing, the only matter to be sorted out between the player and the club was the new salary for a contract until 2030.

When Tah arrives, he is expected to provide the leadership at the back with Upamecano being the first-choice defender to accompany him at the heart of the defense.
