It has been a frustrating summer for Bayern Munich when it comes to their desire to strengthen the attack for next season. Apart from missing out on several transfer targets, Bayern also failed to reach an agreement with Leroy Sane on a new contract. The German winger left Bayern to join Galatasaray on a free transfer.

They have finally found some joy over the weekend as a breakthrough in negotiations with Liverpool for Luis Diaz was found. The Colombian forward will join Bayern for a total fee of €75 million. Díaz will be expected to hit the ground running, as he is an experienced forward who has performed well for Liverpool.

Die Roten are not done with strengthening the attack after the signing of Diaz. They still need one more attacking player since Jamal Musiala will miss first half of the season. Bayern will have to carefully integrate him back into the squad due to the severity of the injury he suffered against Paris Saint-Germain at the Club World Cup.

Rafael Leao is one of the forwards who has been linked with Bayern at the start of the summer window. The Portuguese forward held talks with Die Roten, but a move didn’t materialize beyond preliminary talks.

According to Sport Bild (via iMiaSanMia), Leao is open to joining Bayern if a deal can be negotiated with AC Milan. The former Sporting winger has rejected a move to Saudi Arabia as he wants to continue playing at the top level. From a financial perspective, Leao can join on a wage packet of €15 million per year.

Rafael Leao will be expensive second attacking signing for Bayern Munich

Leao will be an incredible acquisition since he is 25 and getting better with every season. The Portuguese can play on the left flank, as a false nine, and behind the striker. He was one of the few players who fared well for AC Milan in a disappointing 2024/25 campaign.

Despite his qualities, it is difficult to see Bayern able to afford Leao this summer. AC Milan consider him a crucial part of the squad under new head coach Massimiliano Allegri. It will take an incredible bid from Die Roten to convince AC Milan to open the doors of exit for Leao.

Bayern have spent a significant outlay on Diaz. They will look for a second forward who will be cheaper. The Bundesliga champions are looking at VfB Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade. As things stand, a move for Leao is looking unlikely, and he is expected to play for AC Milan next season.
