Bayern Munich remain in talks with Chelsea for Trevoh Chalobah
The deadline day is set to be frantic for Bayern Munich as they look to get three deals over the line for arrivals and departures. Ryan Gravenberch is on his way to Liverpool after two clubs agreed a fee on Thursday. Meanwhile, Bayern are looking to sign a midfielder and defender before the end of Friday.
In terms of defender, Bayern are looking for a direct replacement for Benjamin Pavard. The French defender completed a move to Inter Milan on Tuesday. The record Bundesliga champions have identified Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah as the replacement for the former Stuttgart defender.
Sky Sports in Germany reported on Thursday that talks have stalled between Chelsea and Bayern for Chalobah. However, Fabrizio Romano reported late on Thursday night that Die Roten have sent a new proposal for the English defender. The Bavarian club is confident about completing the loan deal for Chalobah. The Daily Telegraph also reports that talks continue between Chelsea and Die Roten for Chalobah.
Chelsea want a permanent transfer for Chalobah, but Die Roten wants a loan with an option to buy. The English defender is open to completing a move to Munich on Friday since his game time will significantly decrease with the arrival of Axel Disasi from Monaco.
Chalobah has previously worked with Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea. He can be a direct replacement for Pavard since he plays in center-back and right-back positions. With the best years of career ahead of him, the English defender can eventually become a long-term signing for Bayern.
Apart from Chalobah, Bayern are also closely keeping an eye on Southampton’s Armel Bella-Kotchap. The 21-year-old defender is expected to leave St. Marys before the end of the transfer window. Borussia Dortmund are also interested in signing the young German defender.
Bayern do have internal options to replace Pavard if a move for Chalobah or Bella-Kotchap doesn’t materialise on Friday. Joshua Kimmich and Konrad Laimer can play in the right-back position, while youngster Tarek Buchmann can get minutes in central defense. Bouna Sarr is yet to seal a move away from Munich, so he will also become an option for the right-back position.

Along with signing a defender, Rekordmeister are also working on a deal to sign Joao Palhinha from Fulham. The Portuguese midfielder emerged as the top midfield target for Bayern at the start of this week. Palhinha will become the defensive midfield signing that Tuchel has been pushing for throughout the summer.
