Thomas Tuchel somehow managed to have a positive end to the season after suffering poor results in his first two months at Bayern Munich. The Bavarian club retained the Bundesliga title on the final matchday by scoring a dramatic late equaliser against FC Koln.

Tuchel will now work with Bayern chiefs to strengthen the squad for next summer and improve the players already present at the club. There will be a few significant departures during the next couple of months, but Serge Gnabry is unlikely to be one of them.

According to Sport1’s Kerry Hau (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern and Tuchel will keep Serge Gnabry in the squad for next season. The German forward remains part of Tuchel’s plans for the next season. The German winger endured an inconsistent campaign but raised his performances during the title run-in.

Gnabry scored five goals in the last five Bundesliga games of the season. He also provided the assist for Jamal Musiala’s dramatic winner against FC Koln. Gnabry was looking lively in the number nine role during the past few weeks after an underwhelming first three months of the Ruckrunde.

The 27-year-old forward ended the season with 14 goals in the Bundesliga. He scored 17 goals across all competitions, along with providing eight assists. These are good numbers for a wide forward, but Gnabry has largely looked far from his best during the campaign.

The German international had a good run of performances at the end of the season. Tuchel and Bayern Chiefs would like to see similar consistency in Gnabry’s performances over the next season. He will not get more opportunities in the number-nine role next season since Die Roten is looking to buy a striker.

Gnabry will have to show consistency in wide areas to feature regularly in the starting XI under Tuchel next season. Bayern extended Gnabry’s contract last summer since they consider him a vital part of their long-term plans. The Bavarian faithful will hope Gnabry will use the good end to the season as a springboard to get at least 25 goals across all competitions in the next campaign.

After Gnabry likely to be retained by Die Roten, Sadio Mane is the most likely departure from Bavaria in the summer. The Senegalese forward has struggled with poor form and injury during his debut season at Bayern. Reports in Germany continue to suggest that Rekordmeister will be open to selling Mane. Meanwhile, Mane is determined to get back to his best at Bayern next season. The next few weeks will give more clarity on his immediate future at the German club.
