Bayern Munich is planning to spend significant money in the summer to strengthen the attack. The Bavarian club is looking for a number nine that can provide the edge in the final third that they have often lacked this season. The impending arrival of a new striker is certainly casting doubts over the future of other forwards in the squad.

Sadio Mane is considered the player most vulnerable to losing his place in the Bayern squad due to the signing of a striker. Few reports in Germany have suggested that Die Roten is ready to listen to offers for Mane when the transfer window opens in June.

However, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has given a contrasting update on Mane’s situation at Bayern. According to the Italian journalist, Sadio Mane and Bayern recently held talks to clarify the situation around his future. The Senegalese forward is determined to stay at the club after a difficult debut season.

Mane has endured a frustrating season in Bavaria since arriving from Liverpool last summer. The Senegalese international started the season on fire, scoring goals consistently in the first few games of the season. However, his form dipped along with the poor performances of the team.

The former Liverpool forward suffered a serious injury in November that kept him out of action for more than three months. He made his return to action at the end of February. Despite showing glimpses of his talent since returning from injury, goals have dried out for Mane.

The 31-year-old forward was involved in a dressing room bust-up with Leroy Sane after the defeat against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium in April. He was suspended for a game by Die Roten and fined for dressing room misconduct.

Despite a difficult first season in Germany, Sadio Mane has managed to score 12 goals across all competitions. He also has six assists to his name. The Senegalese forward will look to bounce back next season by scoring more than 20 goals across all competitions. It remains to be seen if Bayern is ready to show patience with him for one more season.

Sadio Mane is one of the highest earners in the current squad. With the expected arrival of a top-class number nine, Bayern may look to trim the wage bill. Mane looks the obvious option to make space for a new striker, but it does look like the former Liverpool forward is not eager to give up on his time at Bayern.
