The last three summers have seen Bayern Munich consistently invest in central defenders. They have steadily decreased the average of the defense in the first team by investing in young defenders. The central defense is not a pressing area to address for Bayern, but they continue to explore options in the market.

According to L’Equipe (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern remains interested in Monaco’s Axel Disasi. The 25-year-old defender is an interesting option for Die Roten if one of their central defenders leaves in the summer. Disasi is expected to cost €35-45 million in the upcoming transfer window. Bayern has been previously linked with a move for Disasi.

Disasi has been one of the impressive central defenders in Ligue 1 this season. He has consistently delivered good performances for Monaco, which has attracted interest from the likes of Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

The consistent performances at the club level helped Axel Disasi to be part of the French squad in the World Cup 2022. The 25-year-old defender is entering the peak years of his career, so he is likely to get better. A big move in the summer will be the right step in the direction for Disasi to become one of the best defenders in Europe.

Bayern is likely to explore a move for Disasi only if someone like Benjamin Pavard ends up leaving in the summer. Pavard has just over 12 months left on his contract. The French defender is expected to hold talks with the German club before the end of the season to get clarity over his future.

Pavard got several opportunities to play in central defense during Ruckrunde. The French international has also made the most of these opportunities, which has given hope to the Bavarian faithful that he will sign a new deal. However, it remains to be seen what plans Thomas Tuchel has for Pavard in the long term.

Lucas Hernandez, Matthijs de Ligt, and Dayot Upamecano are not expected to leave Bayern in the summer. It remains to be seen if Pavard wants to stay in Bavaria if he is not guaranteed minutes in central defense. The French defender has previously insisted that he will be open to hearing other projects where he will play in his favoured position.

The signing of Disasi will not be a priority for Bayern. However, they may not get a chance to sign him if Pavard departs late in the window. Disasi may end up at another club by that time since there is interest from the other two big clubs.
