The start of 2023 went from bad to worse for Bayern Munich on Saturday. The defending Bundesliga Champions have been plunged into a mini-crisis after their third consecutive draw in the league. Eintracht Frankfurt scored midway through the second half on Saturday to get the point against Die Roten.

The inconsistency in the performance of the team was witnessed during the game against Frankfurt. After a brisk start to the game, Bayern managed to get the lead in the 34th minute through a well-worked goal from Leroy Sane.

However, there was a drop in the performance level of the team in the second half. Frankfurt capitalised on Bayern’s sloppiness and created numerous chances. The visitors were eventually rewarded in the 69th minute as Randal Kolo Muani managed to beat Yann Sommer from a tight angle.

Die Roten had no answer to Frankfurt’s equaliser, and they eventually had to settle for a draw. While talking to Sky Sports after the game (via iMiaSanMia), Julian Nagelsmann insisted that confidence is very low in the group due to results in the last seven days.

"“When you don’t win, you don’t have the same confidence as if you had won. There are many points that we can improve on and we will discuss them.”"

The German coach also insisted that Die Roten is finding it difficult to break down teams that sit deep against them. Frankfurt also followed this template on Saturday. The visitors managed to capitalize on turnovers higher up the pitch and trouble Bayern on the break.

The most alarming aspect about the last three draws for Rekordmeister is that two of them came at Allianz Arena. The Bavarian club often has great intensity while playing at home, and they hardly give the opposition any breathing space. However, FC Koln and Frankfurt managed to defend deep and grind out draws without heavily relying on luck.

The only saving grace for Bayern is that they are still top of the Bundesliga table. However, the last three results have trimmed their lead down to one point. Nagelsmann needs to restore the belief and confidence in the squad before they lose the top spot in the league. The German coach has previously navigated through a similar mini-crisis in September.

Bayern will be looking to bounce back from these three poor results on Wednesday. The Bavarian club will be travelling away to Mainz for the round of 16 in DFB Pokal. Nagelsmann needs to win this game to arrest the slump and progress in the next round of the DFB Pokal. In the Bundesliga, Die Roten will look to get their first win in 2023 next weekend away at Wolfsburg.
