Bayern Munich has been consistently linked with several forwards since the start of the season. The Bavarian club is expected to sign a number sooner rather than later after parting ways with Robert Lewandowski in the summer.

It has been widely suggested that the pursuit of a forward is set to be entertained by Bayern in the summer transfer window. However, one of their reported transfer targets will be open to completing a move when the transfer window opens next week.

According to Bild, Bayern is one of the few clubs Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram will consider joining in the winter transfer window. Manchester United, Inter Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain are the other three clubs he would be open to joining in January. Thuram will stay at Gladbach until the end of the season if a move to one of these four clubs doesn’t materialise next month.

Thuram will be available for a relatively low fee in January since he has less than six months left on his contract at Borussia Monchengladbach. He could be one of the most sought-after players in January, considering his recent performances for France in the World Cup 2022. Moreover, he has shone for Gladbach this season after a difficult campaign last year.

Bayern has been frequently linked with a move for Thuram in the past couple of months. The Bavarian club has reportedly touched base with his agents to explore a summer move. Despite the injury to Sadio Mane, Die Roten has no plans to sign a forward in January, so they will not be bidding for Thuram.

A summer move for Thuram will heavily depend on the outcome of Bayern’s pursuit of Harry Kane. The English forward is reportedly the top target for the number nine role at Die Roten. He will have a year left on his contract at Tottenham Hotspur, so Bayern will be hoping to get him for a reasonable fee.

Thuram is a very good backup option on Die Roten’s list of targets. He has been playing as a number nine for Gladbach, scoring ten goals in the Bundesliga this season. The French forward could end up doubling this tally by the end of the season. Moreover, he will be available on a free transfer in the summer.

Die Roten’s priority in the upcoming winter transfer window is to sign a new goalkeeper that can be number one during Ruckrunde. The defending Bundesliga Champions will be without Manuel Neuer for the rest of the season due to a serious injury. Hasan Salihamidzic and Bayern have reportedly set a deadline to get a deal sorted for the new goalkeeper in January.
