The market for world-class forwards was very tricky in the last summer transfer window. Bayern Munich managed to strengthen the squad by getting top quality and experience in Sadio Mane from Liverpool. They also invested in potential by signing Mattys Tel from Rennes.

The Bavarian club decided against making a move for center forward to replace Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker left Bavaria to join Barcelona in the summer after scoring more than 350 competitive goals over eight seasons. Die Roten is expected to move for a center forward next summer to fill the void left by Lewandowski.

Considering the recent developments in Germany and England, one thing is certain Christopher Nkunku will not be joining Bayern next summer. The defending Bundesliga champions have been linked with Nkunku, but the French forward/attacking midfielder is expected to join Chelsea.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea has agreed terms with Nkunku for a transfer in the next year’s summer transfer window. The South London-based club will be paying above Nkunku’s release clause to beat competition from top clubs.

Nkunku is enjoying a very good start to the season, scoring seven goals for Leipzig across all competitions. He enjoyed an outstanding campaign last year, scoring 20 goals in the Bundesliga (35 in all competitions). The French forward also managed to provide 20 assists throughout the season.

The 23-year-old was primarily used as a wide forward, but he has excelled in central areas over the last 18 months. Considering his remarkable goal-scoring prowess, it was not a surprise to see Bayern being linked with him when Lewandowski left Bavaria in the summer. However, the French forward will be playing in the Premier League next season instead of reuniting with Julian Nagelsmann in Munich.

Die Roten seem to have switched their attention on Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane. The English striker suits Die Roten’s style of play. Along with being a prolific goalscorer, Kane’s linkup play in the final third is exquisite. He will definitely improve Bayern’s attack significantly and, to a certain extent, fill the void left by Lewandowski.

The Bavarian club has reportedly told Kane to stop contract talks with Tottenham Hotspur. If he doesn’t sign a new deal at Spurs, Bayern will test the resolve of the North London club in the summer. It is going to be a complex transfer to complete despite Kane having only one year left on his contract when the next summer transfer window opens in June 2023.
