Bayern Munich: Rangers expected to exercise buy option for Malik Tillman
The summer transfer window was very productive for Bayern Munich when it comes to getting a good fee for fringe and young players. The defending Bundesliga champions managed to earn €100 million from departures, which helped them in balancing the books.
Along with permanent departures, Bayern has also hit the bullseye with the loan deal for Malik Tillman. The young forward joined Rangers on a season-long loan with an option to buy for the Scottish club. The German club’s decision to send Tillman to Rangers has been justified by the forward’s explosive start to the season.
Die Roten may end up losing Tillman permanently next summer. According to SportBild’s Christian Falk (via iMiaSanMia), Rangers is expected to take up the option to buy the forward permanently next summer. Rangers will end up paying €7 million for Malik Tillman.
Malik Tillman helped Rangers to qualify for the Champions League by contributing with a goal and assist in the qualifiers. The US international has already opened his account in the Scottish league. His overall performances in the league have been promising. Considering the massive potential of the young forward, it is not surprising to see Rangers already thinking about activating the buy option in the deal.
It remains to be seen whether Bayern has some sort of buy-back clause in the deal. If the young forward ends up performing well for Rangers this season, Die Roten may regret the buy option included in the deal. Rekordmeister may have received more enquiries from other clubs if Tillman delivers consistent performances for Rangers.
Malik Tillman made his debut for the senior team in Bavaria last season. Considering the intense competition at Bayern in the attacking positions, a loan move was the right decision for the player. He is now too good for the youth level, so getting game time at the senior level is the next step in his development.
Playing in the Champions League against the teams like Napoli, Liverpool, and Ajax will aid Tillman’s development. The youngster will be looking to get his first Champions League goal in the next four game weeks since he didn’t get enough playing time in defeats against Ajax and Napoli.

Gabriel Vidovic is another exciting Bayern talent that is currently out on loan. The young attacking midfielder had a league assist to his name with Die Roten this season before sealing a loan move to Vitesse. The Croatian midfielder should ideally be part of first-team plans at Bayern next season after getting a considerable amount of playing time in Eredivisie with Vitesse.
