Bayern Munich make another improved bid for Mathys Tel
Hasan Salihamidzic has been a busy man this summer for Bayern Munich. The German club’s sporting director has managed to complete deals for four arrivals, while Robert Lewandowski has been the high-profile departure. The former Bayern midfielder is now looking to sign one of the hottest prospects from Ligue 1.
Bayern has been actively pursuing the signing of Mathys Tel from Rennes. The 17-year-old forward is planned for the first team in Bavaria if a transfer is completed in the coming days. After getting two bids rejected for the forward, Die Roten has made another improved offer this week.
According to Bild, Bayern has made a third bid somewhere between €25-30 million, including add-ons to sign Tel. Rennes is yet to respond to this offer. Salihamidizic and Marco Neppe had travelled to France on Tuesday to hold talks with Rennes regarding a transfer.
Die Roten started negotiations with the French club a few days ago by making a first bid close to €10 million. Rennes quickly rejected the bid, which prompted Rekordmeister to make a second bid close to €22.5 million, including add-ons. However, Rennes stood firm and rejected the second bid. Meanwhile, the youngster has reportedly agreed terms with the Bavarian club for a transfer. (Bid values courtesy: Goal)
The third bid should ideally do the trick. Even if this offer is rejected, Die Roten may end up making one last offer. Bayern definitely rates Tel very highly and expects him to make an impact in the first team since they are ready to make him one of the most expensive teenagers.
If the signing of Tel goes through, Bayern may not look to sign a number nine this summer. Julian Nagelsmann will have numerous attacking options in the squad to field a fluid front three. Tel will most likely get the role of making an impact from the bench. The coming days will give more clarity on Tel’s future. Die Roten will have to look elsewhere if Rennes continues to reject bids for him.

Apart from Tel, Bayern will also look to sign Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig before the end of the transfer window. The German Champions had first bid rejected for the Austrian midfielder. Leipzig is looking to get €30 million for a player that has entered the final year of his contract.
In terms of departures, Chris Richards is closing on a move to Crystal Palace. Die Roten has reached an agreement with the Premier League club for a permanent transfer. The German Champions have a few more fringe players in the squad that could leave Bavaria before the end of the transfer window.
