After sealing three transfers in June, Bayern Munich is not yet done for the summer. The Bavarian club is still likely to make a couple of additions before the end of the window in September. The German Champions have apparently made their first move to add more quality to the midfield department.

According to Footmercato, Bayern has made first bid to sign Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig. The first bid from Die Roten for Laimer is worth €24 million (€22 million upfront with €2 million in bonuses). RB Leipzig has rejected this first bid straightaway.

FussballTransfers and Bild are reporting that RB Leipzig is not keen on offers less than €30 million for Laimer. The release clause worth €35 million in Laimer’s contract at RB Leipzig expired on June 30. He is not keen on signing a new deal at Leipzig and remains open to a new experience at Bayern.

It has been previously reported Leipzig will be much more open to offers from abroad for Laimer. After selling Marcel Sabitzer and Dayot Upamencano to Die Roten in the last 12 months, RB Leipzig doesn’t want to lose another player to the German Champions. However, Laimer’s heart does seem to be set on a move to Bavaria.

Bild has suggested that Bayern has no plans to reach Leipzig’s evaluation of Laimer. The Austrian midfielder is in the last year of his contract, so RB Leipzig is under some sort of pressure to sell. Unless Laimer is convinced by other top clubs in Europe, Leipzig may end up losing him to Bayern now or next summer.

Laimer’s arrival will add more quality to the midfield department this summer at Die Roten. The Bavarian club has already completed a deal for Ryan Gravenberch from Ajax. However, the current squad still lacked more than one option in the number six role. Laimer will provide the much-needed cover for Joshua Kimmich.

The Austrian midfielder has previously worked with Julian Nagelsmann at Leipzig. He has been a solid performer for Leipzig in the last few seasons. Considering how tricky the schedule will be next season, it is crucial for Bayern to have quality depth in every position. Laimer will bring something different to Die Roten’s midfield. Moreover, the best days of his career are ahead of him.

Apart from signing Laimer, Rekordmeister is also likely to sign a striker in the current transfer window. The German Champions are expected to lose Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona. The Spanish club is slowly getting closer to Die Roten’s evaluation of the Polish striker, so it does look like that transfer will happen later in the window.
