The attacking area of the senior squad at Bayern Munich is set to be the center of attention in the coming weeks. The Bavarian club has already improved the options in this area by signing Sadio Mane from Liverpool. However, there is scope for more arrivals due to the uncertain future of a few other forwards.
Die Roten is likely to be linked with several wingers and strikers in the coming weeks. Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele is one of the wingers that has been linked with a move to Bavaria on several occasions in the last 12 months. As things stand, the French winger is set to become a free agent on Thursday.
According to Spanish media outlet Onze (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich has made a contract offer to Dembele. The former Dortmund winger held talks with Barcelona on Monday, but there is no conclusion regarding a renewal. The German Champions have offered Dembele a much better offer than Barcelona, but it is still not closer to what he is looking for.
Along with Bayern, Onze also confirms that Chelsea is the other club to make an offer for the French winger. The next couple of days will give more clarity on the future of the 25-year-old winger as he continues to hold talks with Barcelona.
The report from the Spanish media outlet has been dismissed by SportBild’s Christian Falk. Considering the closer links of Falk with the German Champions, there is a good chance that Bayern has not approached Dembele for a transfer.
However, it will not be a big surprise if Rekordmeister remains in the loop to sign Dembele. The German Champions have currently reached an impasse in contract negotiations with Serge Gnabry. The former Arsenal forward has entered the final 12 months of his current deal in Bavaria.
Gnabry is set to make a decision regarding the new contract when he returns from vacation. If he decides against signing a new deal, Bayern will listen to offers for him this summer. As part of the contingency plan, Die Roten may definitely have Ousmane Dembele on the list to replace Gnabry. The Bavarian club may not eventually sign Dembele, but there are certainly good reasons for them to be interested in the French winger.

The next few days will give more clarity on Dembele’s situation. Bayern may end up adding two more forwards since Robert Lewandowski is also pushing to join Barcelona. The possible departures of Gnabry and Lewandowski will open up spaces for new forwards.
