Bayern Munich remain interested in signing Ousmane Dembele
The summer plans for Bayern Munich will be executed in the coming weeks after Bundesliga came to an end last weekend. The Bundesliga champions are close to completing deals for Noussair Mazraoui and Ryan Gravenberch from Ajax. Along with improving defense and midfield, Die Roten is also likely to add a forward to the current squad.
Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele could be one of the high-profile forwards that will be available in the transfer market during the summer. The French winger is yet to sign a new deal with Barcelona. As things stand, Dembele will be walking away from the Catalan club on a free transfer at the end of June.
According to L’Equipe (via GFFN), Bayern is interested in signing Dembele on a free transfer. The French media outlet insists that Die Roten has already opened talks with Dembele’s representatives to explore a summer transfer.
Meanwhile, Sport1 in Germany has also confirmed Bayern’s interest in Dembele. The Bavarian club believes that Dembele is in a much better place physically after suffering several serious injuries in the last few years. Rekordmeister also believes that Dembele’s attitude has also improved from previous campaigns.
L’Equipe and Sport1 have suggested that a move for Dembele from Bayern will depend on the future of Serge Gnabry. The German winger has been deliberating over a contract renewal. He has entered the final year of his current deal, so Die Roten needs a decision from him sooner rather than later.
Rekordmeister is in no mood to lose Gnabry on a free transfer in 2023. The German club will be listening to offers for him if he doesn’t sign a new contract in the coming weeks. Dembele will be a good replacement for Gnabry as the French winger is also entering the peak years of his career.
After the arrival of Xavi at Barcelona midway through the current campaign, Dembele has improved significantly. Dembele is currently leading the charts for most assists in La Liga this season with 13 assists. The French winger’s marked improvement in his performances has forced Barcelona to make another attempt to extend his contract.
