Bayern Munich: Julian Nagelsmann not averse to keeping Marc Roca
Julian Nagelsmann will be pleased with winning his maiden Bundesliga title this season. However, the head coach of Bayern Munich has a lot of scope for improvement. He needs to fine-tune the team’s playing style and management of resources to make Die Roten the best team in Europe.
In terms of managing the squad, Nagelsmann has not heavily rotated throughout the Bundesliga. The lack of playing time for fringe players affects their confidence and the environment in the dressing room.
Marc Roca is one of the few players in the first team at Die Roten that deserved more playing time this season. The Spaniard has hardly featured during the Ruckrunde, which has raised doubts about his future in Bavaria.
According to Sport1, Julian Nagelsmann recently held talks with Roca to tell him that he deserved more playing time this season. The German coach is open to keeping Roca for next season, but he will understand if the player decides to move on in the summer to get more regular playing time. As per this report, Roca has been very good in training, so Nagelsmann has no complaints on that front.
Marc Roca came up with very good performances at the end of Hinrunde when there was an injury crisis in the midfield department. The Spaniard decided against a transfer in the winter transfer window after a strong end to 2021. However, the return of Joshua Kimmich and other senior midfielders has reduced the playing time of the former Espanyol midfielder.
The Spaniard worked hard during the summer to be fully prepared for his second season. He endured a challenging debut campaign in the Bavarian colours last year. Unfortunately, the second year at Bayern also started on a bad note as he suffered a serious injury at the start of pre-season preparations.
Marc Roca missed the start of the Bundesliga due to injury, but he had to wait for his first appearance of the season until November. Throughout the campaign, he has done well whenever Nagelsmann has used him in the number six role.

The presence of Kimmich will make sure that Marc Roca will not be the first choice holding midfielder at Die Roten. He is expected to leave in the summer with the likes of Real Betis and AS Roma showing interest in him. Sport1 has also reported that Bundesliga clubs are also interested in Roca. A move away from Bavaria will serve him well to kickstart his career. He will have to be satisfied with limited playing time in Bavaria.
