Bayern Munich could be back in for Karim Adeyemi
After the disappointment in the Champions League, Bayern Munich will now start planning summer transfers to bounce back strongly in the European competition next year. The Bavarian club has to make a few tough decisions as talks with a couple of star forwards are expected to be tricky.
Serge Gnabry is one of the key players that is currently holding talks with Die Roten for a contract renewal. An agreement over a new deal is not in sight despite long-drawn talks between the club and forward. Gnabry’s current deal is set to expire in June 2023, and he is reportedly in no rush to make a decision.
Die Roten has been making contingency plans to replace Gnabry. The Bavarian club is unlikely to allow Gnabry to leave on a free transfer, so a move away from the club could take place if contract talks continue to stall.
According to Kicker, RB Salzburg’s Karim Adeyemi is under consideration at Bayern as a possible replacement for Gnabry. The young German forward is a top transfer target for Borussia Dortmund. However, Dortmund is yet to reach an agreement with Salzburg for his transfer. Bayern may have to move quickly if they decide to sign Adeyemi.
Die Roten’s move for Adeyemi will solely depend on what happens with Gnabry. The Bavarian club may have to give a deadline to Gnabry for accepting the new deal. The German winger reportedly wants parity in wages with other wingers in the squad.
Adeyemi has been on Die Roten’s radar for some time. He has been enjoying a prolific season with Salzburg, scoring 20 goals across all competitions. His performances at the club level have also earned him caps for Germany. Adeyemi is likely to cost in excess of €30 million, so Die Roten will have to sell Gnabry before signing the young German forward.

Apart from Adeyemi, Die Roten has also been linked with RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku and Ajax’s Antony as possible replacements for Gnabry. Meanwhile, Real Madrid is keenly following the situation of Gnabry, but the Spanish club may try to get him on a free transfer.
Gnabry is entering the peak years of his career, so losing him for nothing will be a big financial blow. The next few weeks will be defining for Gnabry’s future in Bavaria. In an ideal scenario, Die Roten should have both Gnabry and Adeyemi to have quality depth. The pandemic has made a big dent in the club’s finances, so it is going to be a case of one or the other for Rekordemiester.
