The last eight months have seen Bayern Munich work tirelessly to extend contracts of key players in the squad. Apart from Niklas Sule, the German club has been successful with negotiations for contract renewals with first-team players since the start of the season.

The Bavarian club is currently in negotiations with Serge Gnabry for a new deal. Negotiations were expected to be straightforward with Gnabry, but talks were dragged beyond the Christmas break. Die Roten is yet to find a breakthrough with the German winger for an improved deal.

Gnabry currently has a contract until the end of the 2022/23 campaign. The Bavarian club has to be prepared for the worst possible outcome of the negotiations for a new deal with Gnabry. If Die Roten doesn’t resolve Gnabry’s future before the end of the season, then they are likely to listen to offers for him.

According to SportBild (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern has identified Ajax’s Antony as the possible replacement for Gnabry. The Brazilian winger has been previously linked with a move to Bavaria when Kingsley Coman’s future was uncertain. The French winger went on to sign a long-term deal in January 2022.

Antony has been attracting attention from several top clubs in Europe due to his breathtaking performances for Ajax. The Brazilian winger has flourished under Erik Ten Hag as he has contributed to 20 goals (12 goals and 8 assists) across all competitions. He primarily operates on the right flank. The Brazilian has the flair and pace to create all kinds of problems for the opposition’s full-back.

Bayern will have to come up with a sizeable bid to sign Antony since his contract at Ajax comes to an end in 2025. The German club will probably get a good fee for Gnabry and reinvest it to get Antony from Ajax.

In an ideal scenario, Rekordmeister will be able to reach an agreement with Gnabry in the coming months. He is settled in Bavaria and entering the prime years of his career. Serge Gnabry has been a key player for Bayern in the last three years, so keeping him would always be a plus instead of bringing in a new wide player.

Serge Gnabry will not be playing for Germany during the international break due to illness. The German winger will most likely report to Sabner Strasse later this week. Meanwhile, Alphonso Davies and Leon Goretzka keep taking positive steps towards making a return to the squad after the international break.
