After a frustrating debut season at Bayern Munich, things have hardly changed for Marc Roca during his second season in Bavaria. The Spaniard has been struggling to get opportunities to show his talent in the first team. He was once again an unused substitute in Saturday’s win against Freiburg.
Roca will have to move away from Bavaria to get consistent playing time. He has already been linked with a return to La Liga as Real Betis has reportedly submitted a loan bid for him. The Spanish club could face competition from Serie A for the signing of Roca.
According to Repubblica in Italy (via iMiaSanMia), Roma remains interested in signing Roca from Bayern in the summer. The 24-year-old midfielder is also attracting interest from two La Liga clubs. Meanwhile, Christian Falk of SportBild is insisting that Roca is not actively looking for a move from Bavaria.
The defending Bundesliga champions will most likely listen to offers for Marc Roca in the summer. They are already working on a deal to sign Ryan Gravenberch from Ajax, which will see more competition for Roca in the midfield department.
If Marcel Sabitzer also ends up leaving Bavaria, then Die Roten may look to keep Roca as a squad player. The Austrian midfielder has been linked with a move away from Die Roten, but it will be a big surprise if he ends up leaving after just one season.
Roca has always been positive about the difficult situation at Bayern. He delivered impressive performances in the last few games of Hinrunde. However, the return of Joshua Kimmich has made sure that Roca’s opportunities have been limited in Ruckrunde. There are several senior midfielders ahead of him in the pecking order, which should ideally force him to leave the club in the summer.

The Spaniard is set to enter the prime years of his career, so he should be eyeing more playing time from next season. A move to Roma or Real Betis will definitely help him in getting back to his best. Another season on the bench at Bayern will further stall his career. In an ideal scenario for Roca, a transfer away from Bavaria is sorted before the pre-season training.
Meanwhile, Die Roten will be hoping that numerous clubs are showing interest in Marc Roca. A bidding war for him will help the German club in recouping most of the transfer fee they paid to Espanyol in 2020.
