Bayern Munich: Robert Lewandowski subject to interest from Barcelona
The upcoming summer transfer window is set to be interesting when it comes to the market for strikers. The likes of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe are likely to be on the move as several top clubs are looking for a center forward. Bayern Munich may also get involved in this market if they are not able to extend the contract of Robert Lewandowski.
The Polish striker has less than 18 months left on his current deal. The club hierarchy has consistently admitted that they want to keep Lewandowski in Bavaria. However, the constant public praise has not translated into concrete talks for a renewal.
The lack of contract talks with Robert Lewandowski has led to intense speculation surrounding his future. The Polish striker has been linked with Real Madrid in the past, but the recent reports in Spain suggest that the biggest rivals of Los Blancos are also following the situation of Lewandowski.
According to Spanish transfers journalist Matteo Moretto, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has already held talks with Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi. Bayern remains keen on extending the contract of the Polish striker, but Barcelona is keenly following the situation.
Barcelona is looking to add a striker to the squad in the summer. They have been heavily linked with Haaland in the past few months, while L’Equipe has recently reported that the Catalan club has touched base with Kylian Mbappe. It is not a surprise that they are also keeping a check on the situation of Lewandowski.
The next couple of months will be decisive for Lewandowski’s future in Bavaria. Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn is set to be involved in the negotiations for the Polish striker’s new deal. Lewandowski has remained tight-lipped about his future as he remains focussed on winning Bundesliga and Champions League with Die Roten in the next couple of months.
Die Roten cannot afford the entire package to sign one of Mbappe and Haaland, so it is crucial for them to secure the future of Robert Lewandowski. The new contract for Lewandowski will be expensive, but his numbers in the last few seasons are phenomenal. The Polish striker is currently the best striker in the world, and most importantly, he is showing no signs of decline. The Bavarian club should look to seal an agreement with him in the next two months.

Apart from Lewandowski, securing the future of Serge Gnabry, Thomas Muller, and Manuel Neuer are also on the agenda for Die Roten. Negotiations are likely to be straightforward with Muller and Neuer, but talks are getting tricky with Gnabry.
