The contract renewals have been a priority for Bayern Munich throughout the season. After an underwhelming summer transfer window, the club hierarchy worked hard to secure the long-term futures of key players in the current squad.

The stability in the midfield department will be achieved in the long run by the presence of Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka. Both midfielders decided to sign long-term deals at the start of the season. Meanwhile, Kingsley Coman also signed a new deal until 2027 during the winter transfer window.

In terms of keeping top young talents in Bavaria, Die Roten handed a first professional contract to Paul Wanner. The youngster is tipped to play a vital role in the club’s future after making his first-team debut under Julian Nagelsmann.

Along with achieving success in negotiations for new deals, Die Roten also suffered a setback. They failed to convince Niklas Sule to extend his stay in Bavaria. The German defender will be playing for Borussia Dortmund from next season. Meanwhile, there has been no breakthrough in contract talks with Serge Gnabry.

The negotiations are set to get even trickier for the club hierarchy as the three most senior players in the squad are also in line for new deals. According to SportBild, Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn is set to spearhead negotiations with Thomas Muller, Manuel Neuer, and Robert Lewandowski for new deals. Oliver Kahn will also play a big role in negotiations for transfers from the upcoming summer transfer window.

The report from SportBild insists that Kahn wants to play a bigger role in contract renewals due to recent speculation surrounding Lewandowski. The Bavarian club has not opened talks with the Polish striker. Oliver Kahn has made the renewal of all three players the priority in the coming months.

All three players are definitely satisfied in Munich, but the club hierarchy will find the situation tricky from the financial point of view. These three senior players are currently top earners in the squad, so it will be intriguing to see the length of the deal and raise in wages that will take place in the new contracts.

There is no immediate panic regarding the future of these three players. The current deals for them will expire in 2023. The next couple of months will give a better picture of the club’s plans with them. Talks with Neuer and Muller could be straightforward since they have previously expressed a desire to retire in Bavaria. However, talks with Lewandowski could be tricky since the club has not enjoyed negotiating with his agent Pini Zahavi in the past.
