The last couple of weeks have seen Bayern Munich starting to work on summer transfers. The Bavarian club has always believed in completing the business early to avoid getting into bidding wars for players. The latest reports suggest that Die Roten could be close to sealing the first transfer of the summer.
Ajax midfielder Ryan Gravenberch is one of the top targets for Bayern. The young midfielder has been identified as an option to improve the midfield department at the club. After making the first offer for him last week, Die Roten has reportedly made an improved second big.
According to renowned Dutch journalist Mike Verweij, Bayern has made a second bid worth €25 million for Gravenberch. The second offer will see the upfront fee rising from €15 million to €17 million. The rest of the amount will be met by achievable bonuses. It has been previously reported that Ajax is looking for a fee in the region of €25-30 million for Gravenberch.
It remains to be seen whether Ajax will accept this second bid from Die Roten. Since Bayern’s interest is so concrete, Ajax may try to get an even bigger fee upfront. The personal terms should not be an issue for Die Roten as Gravenberch is reportedly keen to complete a move to Bavaria.
Gravenberch is set to be the direct replacement of Corentin Tolisso in the current squad at Die Roten. The French midfielder is set to leave Bavaria in June when his current deal comes to an end. Apart from Tolisso, Marc Roca is also likely to leave Die Roten to get consistent playing time.
The Dutch midfielder has excelled as a number eight at Ajax. He has also managed to get a handful of caps for the Dutch national team before turning 20. Since his current deal at Ajax is set to expire in 2023, Bayern will be in a hurry to get this deal done, as other top clubs may come into the picture during the summer transfer window.
Rekordmeister has not enjoyed a lot of success during the last five years when it comes to signing young midfielders. The Bavarian club will need a proper plan if they want to get the most out of an exciting midfield talent like Gravenberch.

Meanwhile, there has been no significant update on Die Roten’s pursuit of signing Gravenberch’s teammate Noussair Mazraoui. The Moroccan right-back will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season. Bayern has reportedly submitted a much better offer than Barcelona to clinch the signing of Mazraoui. The next few weeks will give a clear indication about where the club stands in the pursuit of signing both Ajax stars.
