The next couple of months is decisive for the future of Robert Lewandowski at Bayern Munich. The Polish striker continues to score at an insane rate, which makes him the best striker in the world. However, the Bavarian club is yet to open talks for a new deal.

The club hierarchy at Die Roten has consistently insisted that they want to keep Lewandowski in Bavaria. The persistent praise for the striker has not translated into talks for a new contract. The Polish striker’s current deal is set to expire in 2023.

In the past couple of weeks, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding Lewandowski’s future in Bavaria. However, transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the Polish striker remains open to staying at Bayern.

In his weekly podcast on transfers, Romano reported that Robert Lewandowski remains open to negotiating a new deal with Die Roten. The Polish striker and Pini Zahavi will test the transfer market if contract talks with Rekordmeister do not begin anytime soon.

The Polish striker has consistently suggested that he will be open to staying in Bavaria for the rest of his career. Lewandowski is currently focussing on ending the current campaign strongly as Die Roten tries to win the Champions League and Bundesliga. With every passing week, Lewandowski and Die Roten will face more questions about the contract renewal if talks don’t begin.

It should be a no-brainer for Bayern to extend the contract of Robert Lewandowski. He has already scored 40+ goals this season across all competitions. Despite turning 33, Lewandowski is showing no signs of slowing down. His incredible fitness record suggests that the scoring rate will not decrease anytime soon.

The deliberation from Die Roten regarding contract talks is largely down to the financial aspect of the new deal. Lewandowski is currently the top earner in Bavaria. It remains to be seen if Bayern will increase his salary or hand him a longer deal on the same salary. Moreover, the defending Bundesliga champions also hold an interest in Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.

Earlier this week, SportBild has reported that Oliver Kahn would be involved in contract renewals of senior players. Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, and Manuel Neuer currently have less than 18 months left on their contracts. If Rekordmeister doesn’t reach an agreement with Lewandowski before the end of the season, then Zahavi may try to look for a transfer for his client.
