This time last year, there was a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Hansi Flick at Bayern Munich. Joachim Low hadn’t announced his decision to German National Team, but Flick was tipped to lead the national team. Moreover, there were also murmurs about a rift between Hasan Salihamidzic and Flick regarding squad planning.

Eventually, Flick left the club, and Die Roten paid a world-record fee to sign Julian Nagelsmann from RB Leipzig. Nagelsmann has been tipped to become the next German manager to leave a big mark on European football. After missing out on the likes of Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel, Rekordmeister couldn’t afford to miss out on Nagelsmann.

Nagelsmann has been heavily linked with Die Roten since the club parted ways with Carlo Ancelotti in 2017. The German manager decided to work at Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig before eventually deciding to coach his boyhood club.

Considering the amount of fee paid for Nagelsmann, it is quite obvious that Die Roten is looking at him to build a dynasty. While talking to AZ this week, Uli Hoeness reiterated the club’s long-term plans with Nagelsmann.

"“It’s not common to buy a coach out of his contract. We did that with Julian, and it’s already evident that it was a very good decision. He develops new players and does not ask for new signings. For FC Bayern’s cash register, Julian’s work is worth its weight in gold. ”“Our goal and dream is to have continuity in the coaching position. We had great success when Jupp Heynckes, Ottmar Hitzfeld and Udo Lattek were with us for a long time. This is our wish every time we appoint a coach”"

Nagelsmann managed to make RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim very stable sides in the Bundesliga. He managed to take Leipzig to a Champions League semi-final, while his efforts helped Hoffenheim to qualify for Europe.

The early impression of Nagelsmann at Die Roten is promising. Rekordmeister managed to build a solid lead of nine points at the top of the Bundesliga table during Hinrunde. The Bavarian club also won all of their six group games in the Champions League. The heavy defeat against Borussia Monchengladbach in the second round of DFB Pokal was the only real bad moment for Nagelsmann during his first six months in Bavaria.

The 5-1 win against Bayer Leverkusen gave a glimpse of Nagelsmann’s overarching philosophy. The defending Bundesliga champions showed a breathtaking attacking display in this win. With more time under Nagelsmann, Die Roten will become a very efficient team in the attack and defense.

Nagelsmann also managed to get the best out of Leroy Sane. The German winger struggled during his debut season, but a positional switch under Naglesmann has helped Sane to improve his performances and productivity in the final third. Going by the first six months, the Bavarian faithful can be hopeful about the future under Nagelsmann and trust him as Hoeness does.
