Glimpses of Julian Nagelsmann’s philosophy in 5-1 win against Bayer Leverkusen

After the departure of Hansi Flick, Die Roten decided to appoint one of the most exciting coaching talents in Germany. The Bavarian club paid a world-record fee to RB Leipzig for hiring Julian Nagelsmann as their next coach.

Nagelsmann has been showing glimpses of his coaching talent throughout his stints at Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig. His teams have a great defensive solidity, and they are breathtaking to watch in the final third, a style of play that can entertain the Bavarian faithful and eventually win silverware.

The first half of the debut season in Bavaria has been good for Nagelsmann, apart from the defeat against Gladbach in the DFB Pokal. His philosophy of making the team dominant defensively and offensively has been witnessed in flashes.

There is still a great scope of improvement for the current squad, but they managed to give so much hope to fans during 5-1 win against Leverkusen in October. Nagelsmann’s philosophy was visible in this victory, tearing Leverkusen apart in the first half and then controlling the proceedings to see out the win. The victory against Leverkusen did give a glimpse of Nagelsmann’s overall playing philosophy. The Bavarian faithful will be hoping to see it more consistently in 2022.
