In the last couple of windows, Bayern Munich has been exploring MLS and other continents to sign the top talents. The German club cannot spend extravagantly like other super clubs, so they have adopted a smarter approach to compete for big trophies.

Rekordmeister has been working closely with FC Dallas for bringing young talented players to Bavaria for training. Chris Richards had arrived at Die Roten through this program and eventually managed to get a permanent move to Bavaria. Similarly, the defending Bundesliga champions also held talks with FC Dallas for Justin Che. The youngster did impress during a brief spell at the club.

Ricardo Pepi has been grabbing all headlines with his performances with FC Dallas. The 18-year-old forward has 13 goals in 31 MLS appearances, making him one of the most coveted talents from the USA. According to Bild, Die Roten did hold talks with FC Dallas regarding Pepi. However, the young forward would have gone into the reserves squad and considered as a player for the future. Pepi is instead choosing another pathway in the Bundesliga to make a name for himself in Europe. The young striker is in talks with Wolfsburg to complete a transfer in the winter transfer window.

It is a sensible move for Pepi since there is intense competition for places in the attacking positions at Die Roten. The teenager needs more playing time at this stage of his career, so a move to Wolfsburg will help him to continue his development. A move to Bavaria could materialise in the future if he continues to enjoy steady growth in his career.

Apart from Pepi, Die Roten has also been heavily linked with a move for Julian Alvarez in the past few weeks. The Argentine forward has enjoyed a prolific season with River Plate until now. The defending Bundesliga Champions have been considered one of the top European clubs in the race to sign Alvarez.

Despite persistent links with Alvarez, it will be a huge surprise if Rekordmeister spends big money in January. The Bavarian club has always focussed on addressing key positions in the squad during the summer window.

Meanwhile, Mickael Cuisance is likely to be the first departure from Die Roten in the winter transfer window. The German club has already accepted two bids for the player from Venezia and CSKA Moscow. Cuisance is likely to make a decision soon, and if everything goes as planned, he can complete the transfer when the window opens later this week.
