Bayern Munich could do business with Barcelona in January
The winter transfer window is just around the corner, so speculation about various moves is set to get intense in the coming days. Bayern Munich is generally quiet in January transfer windows since signing top-quality players is difficult midway through the season.
Die Roten does have a few voids in the current squad that needs addressing. Meanwhile, the Bavarian club also needs to trim the squad, and a few fringe players will be looking for a move in January to get consistent playing time during the second half of the season. Going by the latest report in Spain, it does look like Bayern and Barcelona could end up doing business during the winter transfer window.
According to Catalan journalist Gerard Romero (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern midfielders Marc Roca and Corentin Tolisso have been offered to Barcelona by their agents. The two midfielders have been heavily linked with a move away from Bavaria in the past few weeks.
Tolisso is set to become a free agent after the end of the current season. January will be the last opportunity for Die Roten to get any sort of fee for the French midfielder. Meanwhile, Marc Roca has been linked with a transfer away from Rekordmeister due to less playing time under Julian Nagelsmann. Considering the situation surrounding the future of both midfielders at Die Roten, it is not surprising to see their agents offering them to top European clubs.
In terms of arrivals, Romero also reports that Rekordmeister could make a move for Sergino Dest during the winter transfer window. The US international can help the Spanish club to raise funds for other transfers.
Dest has been linked with Die Roten for the third consecutive season. The Bavarian club was eager to sign him, but he eventually decided to leave Ajax for Barcelona. Since the Spanish club has been struggling financially, Rekordmeister did reignite interest in Dest during the summer transfer window in 2021.
Even though there has been considerable improvement in Pavard’s performances over the last few game weeks, Die Roten definitely needs an attacking right-back. Moreover, the French defender also sees his long-term future in the heart of the defense. Taking account of all these factors, it is not surprising to see Dest being linked with a move to Bavaria. However, it will be a huge surprise if the German club makes a move in January.
There is a good chance for all these deals not to take place in the winter window. It will be an ideal scenario for all parties, but completing so many complex deals at the halfway stage of the season is a rare thing for Die Roten.
