Bayern Munich travels to Kyiv, Ukraine in search of another three points in their UEFA Champions League group stage campaign. The visitors will be looking to defeat Dynamo Kyiv for the second time in the group stage as they routed their opponents 5-0 in their first meeting. Having already secured progression to the knockout phase of the competition, this match is not a must-win fixture for Bayern but a weekend loss to Augsburg will have them looking to avoid a second defeat in just a few days. Here are five things to watch for ahead of Tuesday’s match.

Can Bayern produce another clean sheet?

Dynamo Kyiv has been averaging 2.73 goals per match in the Ukrainian Premier League this season. However, they have not fared as well in the Champions League as they are still in search of their first goal in the competition in the current team. Bayern’s 5-0 victory over Dynamo Kyiv earlier in the group stage saw them hold their opponents to just six shots and just two of those efforts were on target. As long as Bayern can replicate a similar defensive performance then it should be another three points for the Bundesliga club.

Robert Lewandowski closing in on ten goals in the UCL

After a hat-trick performance against Benfica, Robert Lewandowski enters Matchday Five as the player with the most goals scored in the Champions League this season. If he can register two goals against Dynamo Kyiv then he will reach ten goals scored in a single season in the Champions League for the third time in his career.

Leroy Sane nearing career-high numbers

Leroy Sane has thus far recorded four goals and four assists in the Champions League this season. The winger has equaled his most productive campaign in the Champions League which was the 2018/19 season. On Tuesday, he will have the opportunity to either score five goals or register five assists, or both, for the first time in his career in the Champions League.

Securing the group

Bayern can secure the top spot in Group E with either a win or a draw. Barcelona enters Matchday Five six points adrift of Bayern with Benfica seven points behind and Dynamo Kyiv further back at 11 points adrift of the group leaders. The final matchday will feature another matchup with Barcelona who was defeated 3-0 the first time the two big-name clubs met this season in September.

Looking to avoid another defeat

With two defeats in their last five matches in all competitions, Bayern will be looking to avoid another setback when they face Dynamo Kyiv on Tuesday night. Despite Bayern’s massive 5-0 win when these two sides first met this season, that doesn’t rule out the possibility that Die Roten could drop points when they travel to Ukraine. Both of their defeats in the Bundesliga this season have come against opponents who are currently in the bottom half of the table which shows that Bayern is capable of slipping up even if they have the stronger squad.
