Bayern Munich recorded a dominant 5-0 win over Dynamo Kyiv to continue their strong start to the UEFA Champions League group stage campaign. Two first-half goals from Robert Lewandowski paved the way to the victory as the striker continues to score goals at a high rate. Other goalscorers include Leroy Sane, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, and Serge Gnabry. Here are five key stats from the win.

Lewandowski keeps producing in the UCL

With his two goals on Wednesday night, Lewandowski has now scored 60 goals in 70 Champions League appearances for Bayern. The Poland international continues to get the job done match after match for Die Roten in the continental competition. He is heading towards another impressive goal total in the Champions League as he has already scored four goals in two appearances this season.

No offsides

For the fourth match this season, Bayern did not register a single offsides call. Die Roten recorded just seven matches last season where they did not have an offside call go against them. They have been timing their runs to perfection and it has allowed them to record an incredible number of goals in the first weeks of the current campaign.

Stopping the goalscorer

Bayern was able to register another clean sheet and keep their opponents from recording a high number of shot attempts. In particular, they limited Dynamo Kyiv’s leading scorer Viktor Tsyganov’s chances to just one shot and he recorded only 36 touches during his 69 minutes on the field. The 23-year-old had entered this match with seven goals in nine appearances in the Ukrainian Premier League. By limiting his impact on the match it was much harder for the visitors to find a source of goals.

Julian Nagelsmann’s impressive start

According to OptaFranz, Nagelsmann’s has had the best record of any Bayern manager in their first ten matches in charge. With nine wins in ten matches, he has certainly begun his time as the man in charge in impressive fashion. The manner in which the majority of these victories have been recorded is also noteworthy considering Bayern has been scoring goals in droves.

Choupo-Moting nearing ten goals

It’s been a great start to the 2021/22 season for Choupo-Moting. With his goal on Wednesday night, the striker has now scored seven goals in eight appearances in all competitions and is nearing the ten-goal mark. After scoring nine goals in all competitions last season, he is very likely going to surpass that total in the weeks to come. Although he may not be receiving a large number of minutes on the pitch, Choupo-Moting is making the most of the playing time he has been receiving.
